How this ranking works
Every row joins two authoritative datasets by the in-game item id. Equipment stats — slot, attack speed and
the exact combat bonuses — come from the OSRS Wiki
DPS-calculator equipment dataset, the same data behind the Wiki's own calculator. Prices, 4-hour buy limits
and the members flag come live from the OSRS Wiki real-time prices
API. Only items that are tradeable on the Grand Exchange and have a live price are shown — nothing
is estimated or invented; if the data has a gap, the row shows a gap.
By default the list is best-bonus-first (price breaks ties, cheapest first), with the budget box capping the
instant-buy price. Enter your current bonus in "Your current value" to switch to cheapest-upgrade mode:
only strictly better items remain, sorted by price ascending — so the top row is the cheapest possible upgrade
over what you're wearing.
Which metric should you rank by?
- Strength raises your melee max hit; Ranged strength does the same for ranged, and
Magic damage is a percentage boost to spell damage.
- The attack bonuses (stab / slash / crush / ranged / magic) are accuracy: they decide how often you
hit, checked against the matching defence style of your target.
- Prayer bonus makes your prayer points drain more slowly — the usual pick for slayer tasks and long
trips.
- The defence metrics reduce how often enemies hit you; "melee defence (avg)" averages stab, slash and
crush.
For weapons, the Speed column is the attack interval in game ticks (one tick = 0.6 s) — lower is
faster — and Type flags two-handers, which cost you the shield slot. A slower two-hander with a bigger
max hit isn't automatically better than a fast one-hander plus a shield.
Why we rank by bonus, not "DPS"
True damage-per-second depends on your levels, prayers, the rest of your gear and the target's defences —
none of which this page can know. Ranking by a made-up DPS number would look smarter and be wrong. The bonus is
the real, verifiable stat; when you want a target-specific answer, put your loadout into the Wiki's
DPS calculator — this page tells you what your budget can buy first.
FAQ
- Why isn't my item listed? It's either untradeable (so it has no GE price), currently has no live
price data, or is missing from the equipment dataset. Untradeables like the Fire cape never appear.
- Is the price what I'll actually pay? It's the live instant-buy price — what impatient buyers pay
right now. A patient offer often fills lower.
- What does the 4h limit column mean? The GE caps how many of each item you can buy per rolling
4-hour window.
- How fresh are the numbers? Prices refresh roughly every 90 seconds; the equipment dataset is
re-synced weekly.
